We are

The European Union (EU) is an economic and political partnership between 28 European countries. It plays an important role in international affairs through diplomacy, trade, development aid and working with global organisations. Abroad, the EU is represented through more than 140 diplomatic representations, known also as EU Delegations, which have a similar function to those of an embassy.
The EU Delegation to Libya represents the European Union (EU). It works closely with all of the EU member countries who have diplomatic representation in Libya.
The Delegation represents the EU as a whole, as part of the EU's unified diplomatic corps – the European External Action Service.
The Delegation functions much like an embassy and represents the EU in its dealings on political issues, trade, development, cooperation, etc.
By engaging with political actors, the media, academics, business circles, civil society and citizens, the Delegation raises awareness of EU issues and concerns, and promote a stronger partnership between the EU and Libya.
Consular protection for EU citizens is mainly provided by individual EU country embassies and their consulates.
The 4 main tasks:
  • represent EU interests
  • promote cooperation with Libya
  • support Libya's stability and its democratic transition
  • ensure EU cooperation benefits those most in need.

We offer
We offer a post of Project Officer. Under this post, the recruited person will be attributed functions depending on the needs of the Delegation. Upon recruitment, the successful candidate will occupy a specific job function as Project Officer – this job function may be changed in accordance with the needs of the Delegation. Under this job function, under the supervision of the Head of Operations, the successful candidate will serve as technical and support staff to the Operation Section to :

  • advise on and manage, , the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programmes and projects;
  • contribute to sector analyses and to the definition of sector policy;
  • contribute to policy dialogue with relevant stake holders in specific sectors of intervention;
  • observe monitor and report on sectoral issues;
  • contribute to the quality system management in place to record and report data on ongoing activities (updating monthly or when required the information on programmes and contracts);
  • Maintain good and effective contacts with the local operators in the field, with the national authorities and institutions, with representatives of the diplomatic missions of the Member States, with representatives of the principle international donors and agencies, with NGOs and other local non-official;
  • Produce and disseminate the results of projects at workshops, seminars, conferences and other public events.
  • Give an “operational visa” on documents where required.

The EU delegation's size is +/- 25 people (gender balanced team). The place of employment is Tunis. The post is within Group 1 and the starting basic monthly salary is 3 560.000 TND.

We look for
Education, knowledge and skill
Diploma in political science or related fields, economy, social sciences, law.
Excellent oral and written presentation skills; Good IT skills required
Languages
Excellent knowledge of English (working language).  Good knowledge of French and Arabic is an advantage.
Minimum working experience
At least 3 years working experience in project management. Working experience of at least one year with an International Organisation or a Diplomatic Mission is an advantage.
